Dec 8, 2011 - So first of al lthe presenter says "With these two completely identical BMWs - a 6 series and a 1 series".. Yeah. That's really identical. So this video is called "Do winter tyres work".. and none of the cars in the video have winter tyres. One has all seasons and one has summer tyres. All seasons tyres are nowhere near as good as winter tyres in the snow. Later on he says the car has cold wether tyres which is not true. What a useless test.

Dec 10, 2011 - Diesel and petrol dosen't make any different,MT and AT gearbox dosen't make any different as well. winter tyre, FWD or AWD and for more inportantly,it's the one setting behind th wheel.
Porrly Says:
Dec 10, 2011 - Did I say diesel vs petrol makes a difference? Of course MT vs AT makes a difference, you can slip the clutch in a manual to take some of the torque away from the driving wheels. In an auto you are relying on the computer to ensure the power is put down and AT doesn't know when it's snowing! Your last sentence was just gibberish. Try again. In order to perform a scientific test one needs to change ONE thing between the cars, not EVERYTHING between the 2!

Dec 11, 2011 - Autocar should be ashamed of this. Not scientific enough to be useful, and not funny enough to be comedy. What were they thinking?
tc41986 Says:
Dec 13, 2011 - Of course its not brilliant...its RWD in the snow...

Dec 21, 2011 - of-course its a woman driving the red bemer =)
ChopStickZero Says:
Dec 25, 2011 - You cannot possibly be this thick. He said they are different as the tires. ITs an IMPROMPTU test. Also whats with the specs sheet copy paste genious? It was only a little fresh snow, those things are unimportant, it was only to show how the tyres perform and how much snow they grab to push the car forward. Its doesnt matter what bhp or if an auto. They pushed the 6series, once it had a momentum its shouldve be moving regardless of the tranny. Seriously, you calling THEM stupid. lol.
pizzapingvin Says:
Dec 25, 2011 - It would seem many of you dont have any experience on the road. Because what he is saying and showing makes 100% perfect sense. Summer tyres are useless in snow. Perhaps one car might go slightly farther than another but in the end, you will get stuck.
MakeSh00t Says:
Dec 29, 2011 - put socks because chains socks or winter tyres is much diferent. 1st place is sock, 2nd chain,3rd winter tyres. winter tyres will not help u alot vs hard snow and -10 C its proven. I got winter tyres to, and i can tell u climb to hill u go down depends how high it is. Snow socks are the best check in you tube Winter wsnow sock or chain. u will see.
DangerMouse444 Says:
Jan 17, 2012 - For the UK, most winters you can simple book a day off work when it snows as the roads are usually clear the day after. I have been using a pair of winter tires only on the front, of my diesel estate, a little dangerous I know but if I drive carfully in wintry conditions the winter tires make the differance between going some where safely and being stuck or sliding into a junction with an ABS assited crash. While socks chains have there place, I don't think its for the majority of the UK.
WatsupBroh Says:
Jan 17, 2012 - completely identical BMW's? what the hell is this guy talking about?

Jan 20, 2012 - @watsupBroh he was kidding ;)
warewolf9002 Says:
Feb 1, 2012 - Back wheel cars are always going to have grip problems in snow. Next time try to use a front wheel drive car. Also drive the same Model not same make.
qpae123 Says:
Feb 6, 2012 - Worst Summer tire on a car with FW is way better on snow then best Winter Tire on a BW heavy car. BMWs , Mercs with BW are horror on snow.
InviziGO23 Says:
Feb 11, 2012 - Stop pushing it!! The kitchen shouldn't move!
Thomas22may Says:
Apr 1, 2012 - This is the most useless test, get 2 320i's and put summer tires on one and winter on the other. not a 1 series and a 6 series... What were you thinking?
mazdapremacy97 Says:
Apr 14, 2012 - i drive a 535d and when im in i situaton like that i use cruise control to start moving its much easier
RoofCarrierSystems Says:
May 15, 2012 - No matter how many safety features your vehicle has, it is the tyres that determine how it drives and handles on snow and ice. All Nokian winter tyres reach the snow performance standards, illustrated by the snowflake on the mountain peak symbol.
. . . . . . . because these video appear directly from youtube.com which we cannot control it.)
peugeotCitroen2CV Says:
Dec 5, 2011 - completley identical, apart from the fact they are completely different
