Were only as strong as the friends we keep, the tables we dance on, and the lives that we touch along the way. - Cathy LaValley Since 1988, Cathys Concepts has prided itself on being an innovative Wholesaler and distributor of goods to retail stores, but its journey has been far from ordinary, which can be mirrored directly through its founder and owner, Cathy LaValley. Her initial intentions were never to establish a large company with hired employees. LaValley simply needed to support herself. In 1988, when she was barely making ends meet, she moved back to Indy as a newly single woman. With no college degree and suffering the loss of two jobs in 2 ½ years, she felt desperate, which put her in a position with nothing to lose. And, as luck would have it, made it easy for her to risk it all. With LaValleys longstanding history in retail and boutique sales, she decided selling jewelry was a logical place to start. Using the yellow pages as her guide, she drove from city to city and cold called her way into any business that carried costume jewelry. It wasnt long after that bridal retailers became Cathys bread and butter, thus establishing Cathys Concepts as a bridal jewelry wholesaler. Cathys Concepts progressed forward through the years, and with time came change, and with change came growth and innovation. The transformation of the company continues to be an ongoing and extremely exciting process. As employees were hired, Cathys was able to take on more venues. Among the first of these venues were distinctive lines of wedding ceremony accessories, followed closely by personalized groomsmen gifts, bridal accessories and personalized gifts. And in 2001, when the internet became the new retail force, Cathys gladly jumped on board. Today, Cathys Concepts has established itself as a successful Wholesaler in the wedding accessories and personalized gift markets. It has also become extremely successful as a Drop Shipper for both retailers and e-commerce businesses. And for over twenty years, not only has the company grown exponentially, but LaValley has also. Her greatest source of pride isnt the financial and personal success shes found, but it is the wonderful people who have made this incredible journey possible. My employees are the reason I have been able to persevere through twenty years of an ever-changing business environment.
